Simonds Style 1-1/2 Long Style saw bits are available in both standard Blue Tip and enhanced SiChrome types. Long type bits are easy to sharpen and are well suited for Softwood sawing. The swage length takes a aggressive bite when new and is well suited for softwood species. Blue Tip Type is very economical. They can be sharpened with a hand file or abrasive wheel. SiChrome type has a Hard Chrome coating over the entire Swage areas. SiChrome bits are best sharpened with an abrasive wheel. The hard chrome coating around the cutting edge supports the corners well and holds a keen edge longer than Blue Tip type. Dual Gauge, 8/9, are suitable for saws either 8 gauge or 9 gauge at the rim of the blade.

Style 2-1/2 Blue Tip Bits
Simonds 2-1/2 Style Blue Tip® Saw Bits can be used exclusively with 2-1/2 Style saws. Regular, Long and Edger types can be used with either Regular Style or Super Style shanks. Standall Type bits have a built in Chip Breaker and should not be used with Super Style Shanks.
Blue Tip® bits have been the quality standard for generations of sawyers. Blue Tip bits are hot forged from carbon steel to hold a sharp edge, yet can be radially touched up or sharpened with a hand file or grinder. The Blue Tip, a result of a special tempering, is a mark of extra toughness.

Style 2-1/2 Si-Chrome® Bits
Simonds 2-1/2 Style Si-Chrome® Saw Bits can be used exclusively with 2-1/2 Style saws.
Regular, Long and Edger types can be used with either Regular Style or Super Style shanks. Standall Type bits have a built in Chip Breaker and should not be used with Super Style Shanks.
Si-Chrome® bits are Blue Tip® bits are hot forged from carbon steel with a special hard chrome plating on the cutting edge. This chrome coating increases hardness and edge holding ability and reduces friction while providing greater wear resistance. Si-Chrome bits should be sharpened with grinding wheels and the chrome surface is not suitable for hand filing.

Style 2-1/2 Dominator® Carbide Tipped Bits
Style 2-1/2 Dominator® Carbide Tipped Bits can be used exclusively with 2-1/2 Style saws.
Dominator Carbide Tipped bits are a Standall Type bit. They have a built in Chip Breaker and should not be used with Super Style Shanks.

Carbide represents the latest innovation for Saw Bits. Dominator bits have a tough hot Forged carbon steel bit body with a proprietary “wrap around” carbide tip. Dominator bits have a special grade of carbide that balances superior edge holding ability what resistance to chipping.
