Simonds Style 1-1/2 Standall Style saw bits are available in both standard Blue Tip and enhanced SiChrome types. Standall type bits are easy to sharpen and are well suited for all sawing species. Standall Type bits have a built in Chip Breaker and were originally engineered to facilitate better winter sawing and control of fine saw dust. Many sawyers now run Standall type year-round with good success. Because of the built in chip breaker, Standall type should not be used with Super Style Shanks. The longer swage length (same as Long Style bits) can well support its aggressive bite when new. Blue Tip Type is very economical. They can be sharpened with a hand file or abrasive wheel. SiChrome type has a Hard Chrome coating over the entire Swage areas. SiChrome bits are best sharpened with an abrasive wheel. The hard chrome coating around the cutting edge supports the corners well and holds a keen edge longer than Blue Tip type. Dual Gauge, 8/9, are suitable for saws either 8 gauge or 9 gauge at the rim of the blade.
