Simonds does not just manufacture the saws – we also manufacture the bits and shanks that fit into the saw. Unlike our competitors, we understand the tolerances required to insure a perfect fit – use Simonds bits and shanks for a guaranteed fit!
Simonds has a long history of manufacturing products for the wood industry. We understand the products we produce are only as good as the material we put into those products. As a result of that understanding, Simonds has gone back to manufacturing our own circular saw plate – we are the only company in North America manufacturing saw plate for Headrig and Cut Off Saws.
We were not satisfied with the quality of the plate we were receiving from our suppliers and felt we needed to bring the plate manufacturing process back in house in order to guarantee the plate would meet our demanding specifications.
Simonds Trademark Series Inserted Tooth Saws are produced using Nickel Alloy plate processed in our new heat treat facility. Our new on-site heat treatment is producing plates with a consistent hardness and uniform flatness that is not available from 3rd party plate suppliers. Simonds saws keep maintenance costs down, maximize saw run time and add profit to your bottom line.
Our Insert Tooth Wood (ITW) saws are available for Board Edger’s from 12″ diameter to 30″ diameter. We manufacture insert tooth saws for use in portable sawmills and Scraggs and supply head rig circle saws from 32″ to 60″ diameter. Insert tooth wood saws provide dependable performance, high production and minimal maintenance costs. Many modern mills use ITW saws for primary breakdown. The ITW saw can withstand contact with small metal objects in logs with minimal damage and down time. A quick switch of the teeth and sawyers are back in action. A circle saw for primary breakdown backed up by a Simonds band resaw is an increasingly common configuration.
Only Simonds has the patented Electronic Saw Analyzer. Simonds Trademark Series head saws are blocked and tensioned by some of the best anvil men in the industry. Every Trademark Series Saw is then electronically analyzed to assure it has the proper tension for your mill’s operating speed. Your saw is analyzed at rest, at operating speed and below operating speed to assure it will stand up in the cut at your mill. Vibration frequency and total vibration are electronically measured and analyzed so we can certify your new saw is READY TO RUN.

Simonds saws are laser cut, precision milled on modern CAD/CAM machinery, made of high alloy steel, heat treated to 45-48 RC, tensioned by skilled anvilmen and analyzed by our patented Electronic Saw Analyzer. All this results in extended saw life, superior cutting accuracy and excellent tension hold capabilities.
